Westfields is a new build four bedroomed family house located in the village of Bainton in Cambridgeshire. The site benefits from excellent views to the north and south so the building needed to maximise these, whilst minimising over looking of its neighbours to the east and west. The resulting concept is a simple tubular form with glazing each end and solid flank walls.
This project expresses its construction through the use of exposed finishes. Load bearing elements are constructed in brickwork (painted white) and steel beams are exposed. The soffit has an exposed timber roof structure with a deck of birch plywood. The solid floors are of polished concrete. The overall effect is an animated, exciting interior which connects effortlessly into the surrounding natural landscape.
