Dwell architects are delighted to have been involved in the recently completed refurbishment of Grade 2 listed Don Paddys, Market Place, Uppingham in Rutland

Don Paddys is a well loved bar and Restaurant in the heart of Uppingham, Rutland.  The building is Grade 2 listed.  The business has been in operation for over 20 years and the challenge was to fully update both the buildings core and its finishes inside and out to ensure its continued success for many years to come.  The project was to be completed on a tight schedule to avoid down time, and so it was essential that that the design and construction process went smoothly.

Dwell were appointed to coordinate the design process and to overcome planning, listed building and building regulations hurdles for the new work. We worked collaboratively with Rutland County council to agree stripping away existing non historic features , and how new services and finishes could be sensitively integrated with the existing listed building fabric. 

Working closely with the client, interior designer and the building contractor, the project was successfully delivered on schedule within a 3 month construction programme, reopening in April 2024
