Two terraced four bed houses in the Northfields Conservation area

The site is located in Stamford just a couple of minutes walk from the town centre. The site is a small parcel of land and is within the Northfields conservation area. The challenge was to create two large modern houses which fitted alongside the existing Victorian terrace, whilst providing a contemporary modern interior. 

The design maximises the available developable area by extending to the rear as far as was possible, and utilising the roof space as a large fourth bedroom. The ground floor is articulated as a single open plan space, maximising the use of the floor area and avoiding any unnecessary circulation space. There is a glazed extension to the rear with vaulted ceiling and bifold doors leading onto the courtyard garden- this casts light back into the deep plan providing a light and airy open plan interior.
