Dan-Y-Graig occupies a rural setting outside of St Davids, in the Pembroekshire national park. The challenge was to work with the existing buildings to create an attractive conversion which would have minimal impact in this sensitive location
The proposals retain the existing flat and pitched roof form, so the massing of the buildings remains historically accurate. We were also able to work with the existing openings so structural alterations were not required to the external envelope. A series of traditional building techniques were used including traditional dry stone walls topped with turf, and a grouted roof, which is unique to this area of Wales.
